Who We Are: Overview

LavenderCal is the network for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer, and questioning employees at UC Berkeley.  We encompass faculty, staff, librarians, lecturers, academic appointees, researchers, postdoctoral appointees, and visiting scholars.

LavenderCal is recognized as an official campus staff organization, supported by the Chancellor and the Vice Chancellor for Equity & Inclusion.  We welcome the support and participation of allies throughout the campus.

Staff and faculty representatives of LavenderCal serve on the Chancellor’s Advisory Committee for the LGBT Community at Cal (CAC-LGBT). We are also represented in the system-wide University of California Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex Association.

LavenderCal supports UCB's goals of “diversity, equity, and inclusion as essential ingredients of excellence in higher education” — articulated by our campus leadership and the Regents of the University of California. We endorse the UC Berkeley Principles of Community and UC’s non-discrimination policy statements.

LavenderCal invites collaboration with all UC staff organizations and faculty groups, as well as student and alumni associations.
